Safetica 7.2 is released – What’s new?


Safetica 7.2 builds on the Safetica 7 platform released earlier this year. It brings further refinements to the new features, and improves the usability of the whole product. The main changes are:

  • All-in-one Deployment and Update view
  • Revised DLP settings workflow for easier, guided configuration
  • Improved reliability of Client-Server communication with improved security and reduced network requirements
  • Optimized database backup mechanism for smaller backup size
  • Further integration of BitLocker into DLP policies
  • User rights management and improved performance in WebSafetica

Deployment and Update view

The Update view has been revamped to provide both Update and Deployment options on one screen. This makes deployment of new stations and update of the existing ones more transparent and easier to use.

Redesigned DLP configuration

The DLP configuration was previously spread across 3 different views. We have taken the first step towards simplification by logically linking all these views into one interface accessed from the DLP rules screen. All the options are still there – but now you know which step you need to take to set up an effective DLP policy, from categorization to the final DLP rule.

Improved Client-Server communication

Until now, Safetica Clients primarily communicated directly with the Safetica database. This approach had its merit in environments with a high number of end points, but it required a more open network configuration and was harder to support via VPN networks. In Safetica 7.2, this connection is facilitated by the Safetica Server. The benefits include reduced network requirements which make it easier to allow the connection between the clients and the server, as well as the enforcement of encryption by Safetica, making the connection even more secure and reliable. It is of course possible to change the connection type if you need to improve your server performance. The current limit for a mid-level server running Safetica Server and database is approximately 400 clients. The connection type can be changed in:

Safetica Console – Maintenance – Client settings – Other settings – Endpoint database connection.

Note: When updating from an older version of Safetica, the clients will retain their previous communication settings.

Other changes

We have optimized the backup mechanism in Safetica 7.2 in order to reduce the backup size. Further improvements are already planned for the next version. Following the introduction of BitLocker management for removable devices in Safetica 7, we have now added full BitLocker support in DLP rules. Now you can be sure that your sensitive documents can only be copied to secure thumb drives. WebSafetica has seen improvements too. Both the addition of User Rights Management and the optimized performance improve its usability and provides quicker access to the data. There are a number of cosmetic changes, too – instead of listing them all, we encourage you to go ahead and install Safetica 7.2. You may appreciate that:

  • You can restart multiple clients when you multi-select them in the list of stations
  • Clear system requirements are shown during the installation process
  • The triggers for weekly reports were updated to eliminate redundant reports
